We fell in love with a California ranch, built in the 60's by an architect and although it had been updated along the way, the house was tired and needed a major face lift. The house was totally gutted and Gail, who was recommended by our contractor, was instrumental in designing the kitchen and relocating a dry bar. I knew what I wanted and Gail took the broad brush strokes and designed a white, light filled, efficient kitchen which is a show stopper in our very open plan home. She was instrumental in the placement of the dry bar which was a game changer for the space. Gail is creative, very knowledgable and experienced with respect to space design and materials. She listens to the customers needs when choosing the details and placement of cabinetry It was an absolute pleasure working with Gail and her team and I loved her straight forward approach. Gail O'Rourke was recommended to me by my designer (Irene McPhee) and between the two of them created a fabulous kitchen design. Gail suggested great options and worked with me to keep on budget while including many special features. Among my favorites are the corner drawers (instead of a lazy susan) and what my family calls the PDR...or the piece de resistance...which is the pull out spice cabinet! Storage for my dozens of jars of herbs and spices was a must have!

We called Gail from White Wood Kitchens on the recommendation of our builder. We were renovating our second home, our cabin on the lake. We wanted something that was really functional and updated without losing the rustic charm of the cabin. Gail came in with some great ideas for function, lots of storage, open shelves for my cook books and even a shelf for my wooden duck collection. I really love the pull out spice racks and built in appliances. The cabinetry that she selected was great quality and I was surprised by how nicely it fit in my budget. The counters were fabulous, warm autumn tones called creme Bordeaux. My husband and I always wanted a home office but didn’t have a dedicated space. Our living room was an awkward size and the door and window placement made the room seem lopsided since one whole side of the room was not being used. Gail came in and after a thoughtful review of the room suggested that we divide the room so that the unused portion could become an office. I couldn’t visualize it at all before she suggested it but as soon as she said it, I knew it was a perfect solution! We wanted to redo the half bathroom whose wall backed up to this portion of the living room so we decided to make it a whole project. She brought in a contractor (who was really excellent) to do the bathroom and he even put in a shower stall to make a full bath. Bonus! They constructed a wall to close off the office and it has pocket French doors which are great because I can just slide them open or close when the office is in use or someone is one the phone. Everything went smoothly with very little interruption of our daily activities, and that’s with kids and dogs! Gail swooped in and created built –in shelving and storage to match the other cabinetry in my house so I could house my law books. I am amazed at how it came out. My desk and everything went into the office and now it looks like the office has always been there and I love being able to work from home. I would highly recommend Gail and her team to anyone looking to make improvements to their home. The changes they made to my home definitely added value to it which is a plus.
